Gold Packed with Purpose bow

I founded Packed with Purpose six years ago with the goal of creating a positive impact in the United States while making it easier for people to do good through their gift giving. Creating an impact is built into our mission and business model and is what makes our gifts stand out compared to any other gift basket. Core to our DNA is proactively partnering with our 140+ Impact Partners, over 50% of which are Diverse and Women Owned businesses, to amplify their missions and help them do more good.

Reflecting on the past year, I’m especially proud of two milestones. The first, after a rigorous vetting process and two-year journey, Packed with Purpose became officially certified as a B Corporation in February,  joining a community of companies using business as a force for good.

And in September, we launched PwP Treats, a selection of artisanal confections in partnership with A Safe Haven Foundation (ASHF), a Chicago nonprofit restoring hope and opportunity to veterans and individuals experiencing homelessness. The partnership with ASHF is the culmination of a year-long effort to bring to market a product line to meet consumer demand while providing jobs and job training to individuals on a path toward self-sufficiency.

While we’d love to feature the inspiring stories behind all of our Impact Partners, we hope you enjoy learning about the 12 highlighted here. We are proud to partner with them all.

Warmly,

La Monarca

Inspired by the pastries they enjoyed growing up in Mexico, Ricardo Cervantes and Alfredo Livas founded La Monarca Bakery after completing their MBA studies at Stanford. Wanting their business to serve as a bridge between two cultures, La Monarca donates 1% of proceeds to ECOLIFE conservation, to protect and preserve the Monarch butterfly. In Michoacan, Mexico, local communities that live near the Monarch butterfly forest cut down trees for cooking and heating, contributing to two problems: deforestation and indoor smoke pollution. To solve this, ECOLIFE builds energy-efficient Patsari stoves.

Pernell and Rod, Founders of BLK & Bold coffee

BLK & Bold

A lifetime friendship, shared values, and a love of coffee and tea served as the foundation for Rod Johnson and Pernell Cezar to co-found BLK & Bold in 2018. The company started out selling bags of home-grown beans to independent coffee shops in Des Moines before becoming the country’s first Black-owned, nationally distributed coffee brand and a Certified B Corp. Pernell & Rod believe that if children are the future, then they should be equipped with resources to manifest their potential.

We built BLK & Bold to be a pathway for coffee and tea lovers to support initiatives for youth in need… making the reinvestment into disenfranchised communities as seamless as possible.
